The Boy's King Arthur, title page illustration. "The Boys King Arthur" (1880) is a retelling of the original Sir Thomas Malory's "History of King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table" by the American poet Sidney Lanier. The book interprets existing French and English stories about these figures, with some of Malory's own original material (the Gareth story). 

In 1917 N.C.Wyeth conceived of 17 works for the latest edition of Sidney Lanier's "The Boy's King Arthur." The illustrated version became an instant children's classic.
