Comprehensive 6-disc look at Bruce Springsteen's now legendary 2016-17 tour.  Originally centered around 1980's double album 'The River', the focus shifted after the first US leg ended to encompass all aspects of Bruce's career.  Over the course of 89 shows, Bruce and the E Street Band played 154 different songs, plus an additional 12 alternate arrangements (whether acoustic or something like 'Prove It All Night' with the extended intro).  On MetLife Madness and Perfect In Perth, 95 different songs are included from the tour, plus two versions of 'Growin' Up' (both with and without the story).  Down To The River For You completes the trilogy which began with MetLife and Perth, and offers an additional 59 different songs which had not appeared on either set, plus an additional 11 alternate versions.  If you own the two earlier collections and this new one, you will have EVERY SINGLE SONG AND ALTERNATE ARRANGEMENT performed by Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band on the 2016-17 tour!  

So what's on this set?  Well, it starts with a full performance of The River LP, taken from the final night on the first leg (the only leg where the full LP was played in sequence every night).  Being from the final night of the leg, not only had Bruce and the band become intimately familiar with these songs, they were also having fun with them, knowing that a 3-week break was imminent!  After the performance of The River, the remaining four discs become a nice summation of the rest of the tour, including the European leg, which is well-represented here.  Tributes to the musical icons who had passed in 2016 (Prince, David Bowie, Alan Vega and Glen Frey) are also included, along with several guest appearances (Bono, Eddie Vedder, Elliott Murphy, etc.).  The final disc of the set gathers up all the alternate acoustic versions played by Bruce over the course of the tour for a sort of mini-acoustic concert.  As with the other two titles in this series, all of the tracks on this set were seamlessly segued together to sound like they all stem from one "super concert"!  This fan-created set was long in the making, and the results show the hard work and effort that was put into it.  If you have MetLife Madness and Perfect In Perth, this set will complete your collection of all the different songs Bruce played on the 2016-17 tour!  If you don't have those titles, this would be the perfect time to pick up all the songs at once!  Perfect gift for that Bruce fan in your life (or even yourself) for the holidays!
