One of the oldest living things on the planet, Sequoia sempervirens is a monoecious, evergreen tree that once spread out through 2,100,000 acres along the California and southwest Oregon coasts. Tragically, it's estimated that 95% of the original trees have become victims of deforestation.

California Redwoods have been known to live for over 1,800 years, and grow to 379 feet (excluding the roots). When exposed the bark is a beautiful, red brown color- thus the name 'redwood'.
