Delicious. No garden is complete without Corn. Stowell's Evergreen White Corn is a wonderful heirloom variety with good old-fashioned taste.

Stowell’s Evergreen combines size, sweetness and lasting quality! Tall, attractive plants produce 8- to 9-in. ears with 16-20 rows of creamy kernels.

Stowell's Evergreen Sweet Corn was originally developed by Nathaniel Newman Stowell of Burlington, New Jersey in 1848.  Stowell was a farmer and spent some years refining this variety, which he developed by crossing Menomony Soft Corn and Northern Sugar Corn. In the fall of 1855, he sold just two ears of seed corn to a close friend for four dollars, on the agreement that the seed was for personal use only. Stowell's "friend" then re-sold the same seed for a whopping $20,000 to Thoburn and Company who released the variety commercially in late 1856. This delicious white sweet corn is regarded as the "King of All White Sweet Corn Varieties" , has been popular for over 162 years.

Stowell's Evergreen matures slowly over a long period, extending the usual harvest and produces 9 inch ears with 16 to 20 rows of plump, sweet white kernels.

Seeds can be sown directly into garden when soil is warm.

About Us

We are a small family run seed processor that has a long tradition of farming for many generations. I fondly remember my Grandfather telling stories about his Grandfather tilling the earth and the events that impacted his success. The stories bring to life the courage and creativity required to survive capricious weather and market prices. Our history makes it clear that the rewards of farming, including the birthing of the calves, the bounty of a good harvest, and the family's feeling of being rooted in the soil. I still remember with pride, getting to sit on my Grandfathers lap while driving the tractor for the first time during corn harvest.

In addition to commercial crops, most family farms also have large gardens to grow much of the food consumed on a farm. Growing your own vegetables, flowers, spices and herbs, canning and freezing were a normal part of life on the farm. We always saved seed from each plant for starting the cycle for the next year. We would like the opportunity to share some of these seeds with you.
