Entrepreneur Wilhelm Anhalt and cure in Kolberg
At the end of the 17th century, in some aristocratic circles and the affluent bourgeoisie, climatic treatment became popular. Trips to spa waters (especially the French ones, Vichy and Forges) were an opportunity to travel longer distances, meet new people, adventure and try out new medical novelties. Although skeptical Guy Patin claimed that "mineral waters have made more droplets than cured patients," the fledgling fashion for a health holiday could no longer stop.
Later healing therapeutic mineral waters were joined by healing sea baths. Started in England, supposedly best acted on the crushed nerves and heart. Marine bath enthusiasts arrived after the end of the Napoleonic wars. On the shores of the North Sea and the Baltic Sea appeared bathing. The first was founded in 1794 Heiligen Damm, the next six years later in Nordenay. Inspired by these actions, the Prussian ruler Frederick William III in 1802 put forward the idea of creating a bathing area in Kolberg. At that time Kolobrzeg - a military fortress town was not ready for such an investment. Kolobrzeg beaches were popular thanks to the publication of Jan Ludwika Held, a customs officer from Poznan, held in Kolberg so-called. penalty of the fortress. In the book titled "The sea bath near Kolobrzeg and the best and cheapest way to use this , printed in Berlin in 1804, is a wonderful marine treatment, regretting "there is no good bathing place to bathe, you have to get along with the military and exert a lot of stress .  "

In 1825 the authorities of Kolobrzeg issued a regulation governing the use of the bathing area. The bath could be taken between 5 and 9 am and in the same hours of the afternoon. To the right of the mouth of the Parsęta estuary was designated a place for men, left for ladies. There was a strict ban on men staying near the women's part during bathing, enforced and prosecuted by the police. In 1830, the "beachers" used to have dressing rooms and saline bathrooms, and access to the beach facilitated wood-strewn dunes. Formed Ostseebad KolbergA professional therapeutic center, using naturally occurring saline, mineral and rich mud deposits in its treatments. Her therapeutic properties were discovered by the balneologist Dr. Hermann Hirschfeld and started using in Kołobrzeg spa. In 1859 he published his guide for healers, published in German and Polish. There were several rules to follow in order to feel the effects of the salutary sea bath: dive into the sea water of the nogo, all the way to the top of the head. The bath should be repeated twice a day, in the morning and in the evening, regardless of the weather. The results, in the form of better appetite, sleep and return of vitality, were felt after about 100 baths. The naked sea bath became a challenge for the strict 19th-century customs. This resulted in the creation of various bathing equipment.Æ of the boat bath, equipped with a small pool enclosed with an openwork bottom or bathing carriages. The latter had an exit at the back of the car with decaying stairs. The vehicle was pushed back into the water, and the sun-bathed patron could take a bath. These solutions were far from perfect, especially at high waves. In 1876, seafront swimming pools were built, separate for both sexes, and five years later a warm bath. The bath was only possible in bathing, bathing costumes had to cover the body from shoulder to knee. On the beach and pier you could rest and walk only in full costume. Habits slowly loosened. At the beginning of the 20th century families could bathe together in a specially designated family bathing area ( Familienbad). After the First World War, you could bathe without restriction, stay in a swimsuit all over the beach from dawn to dusk, separate, separate for men and women bathing.

By 1933, Ostseebad Kolberg was Germany's largest seaside resort. The tourists from eastern and central Germany, the inhabitants of Berlin and Polish-speaking inhabitants from the partitions of the Partitions were eagerly visited. In 1904 the spa was visited by 13,288 guests.
It is very possible that the treatments offered at Ostseebad Kolberg were also used by the residents of Elbląg. In the latrine on the plot of the tenement house at ul. Christmas Eve 36 found two porcelain jars on closer to the unknown Special-Creme of AOK.

The company, in 1885, founded the pharmacist Wilhelm Anhalt, using the experience of his son-merchant and herbalist Charles L ü ck - factory owner herbal medicines. Anhalt Ostseebad Kolberg (AOK) specializes in cosmetics based on natural raw materials. At first the products were available to guests of the spa and tourists, the company was registered in 1903, making it one of the oldest brands in the world. The flagship product of AOK was Seesand - almond flour.

In 1911 Anhalt introduced the first pillig, and in 1913 a comprehensive line of body care products. The face of the brand was the Bavarian singer Hermine Bosetti, advertising her in 1913 with the slogan:  "For years I have used only AOK soap." Anhalta's work continues today with Henkel, which took over in 1983 and AOK products are available on the German market.
