This two-hour movie orginally aired May 17, 1998, as an episode of the weekly CBS dramatic series Touched by an Angel. Bai Ling stars as Jean Chang, a Chinese woman who flees to America after the 1989 Tiananmen Square riots. Frightened and disillusioned, Jean has lost her faith in mankind -- and, more crucially, her inner strength. It is up to angel caseworkers Monica (Roma Downey) and Tess (Della Reese) to restore Jean's faith and resilience. At the time of its original release, The Spirit of Liberty Moon was hailed as one of Touched by an Angel's most perceptive and compelling episodes.
