I am brand new (shop is not open yet) I am confused about flat rate shipping. If the flat rate shipping is $10.00 do I add that to the price of my item and the remaining postage I pay out of pocket. This is foreign to me and I’m confused. Can someone help me. Also if I decide I want the buyer to pay how to I access the different types of shipping

Flat-rate shipping means that you are charging the customers a flat-rate to ship the item no matter what it weighs and/or where they live. Obviously, you should consider the weight of the item before you set that flat-rate shipping charge. If you ship First Class Mail via USPS, then the shipping charge will NOT vary with the buyer’s address. However, Priority Mail (unless you choose Priority Flat-rate boxes), UPS, or FedEX charges WILL depend on the buyer’s address.
Another option is to include an average (depending on distance) shipping charge in the price of the item and sell it with “FREE” shipping.
Buyers like “free shipping”, even though they kind of know that shipping charges are factored in somehow. Other buyers don’t mind paying “reasonable” shipping charges as long as you are transparent in what you charge. Don’t try to sell a $10 item with $20 shipping charges. Do your best to cover your actual shipping charges (including materials if need be) when listing your item.

If you have flat rate shipping, then at the time the buyer pays for your item, Bonanza will automatically add your flat rate shipping charge to the price of the item. So you don’t need to add it in to the item price.
If the actual postage ends up being more than you charged for flat rate shipping, then yes you are responsible for that out of your pocket.
