I would like to close my account but want to make sure I can get my shipping fund balance refunded. It’s over $40 so I don’t want to lose it.

Request a refund of the shipping balance before you close your account. While you wait for the refund, put your items (if any) on RESERVED status using the Batch Editor.
You can also get a refund of your shipping account, put your items on RESERVE, keep your account and if you do decide to come back later, you could “Un-reserve” your items by placing them back into FOR SALE status.
