How much does paypal charge you to use their service?

I am trying to move my shop from Etsy to Bonanza because of Etsy’s new fee increase, beginning July 16th. Bonanza support told me to contact PayPal directly but never provided a link, nor can I even find one on PayPal’s page —-just a community board, like this. (If PayPal charges more than 5% then why leave Etsy?)

2.9% of the total, which does include the cost of shipping and then an additional .30 cents on top of that. I do not believe there has been an increase. Their charges are pretty reasonable. Welcome to Bonanza

Curious, how much is Etsy’s increase?

Wanted to clarify, I was referring to Paypal when I said I do not believe there has been an increase :)

I just read an article on it. One thing yuu will like about Bonanza is that you do not pay a percentage on the first $10 toward shipping. After $10, sellers pay a percentage on the difference in shipping.

etsy raised FVF to 5% + the listing fee..and it does include shipping

Hi Rhubarb, I did not notice the last part of your post in the paranthesis about Paypal if over 5% why leave Etsy.

Both places are good options. It’s always a shock when a marketplace raises their prices, especially when one has been there for so long.

I am amazed that Etsy only did the increase that they did after all these years. It really sounds like they are trying their hardest to keep fees reasonable for their sellers.

It’s a matter of preference I guess.

I like having Paypal where when I sell something I can keep the money on Paypal and I have a Paypal card that I can use. I like being on Bonanza because of the background burner; the community; having HTML for my descriptions so that I have control over font, bold, size, clickable links, etc; batch edit so that I can edit my listings in bulk if need be…plus more.

What I am also happy about with Bonanza is that I do not feel too restricted. There’s a sense of freedom that comes with selling on Bonanza in my opinion.

Wherever you decide, best of luck to you!!

Absolutely Empress! Very well said. Being on Bonanza is almost like having your own website without all the cost.

Thanks, Spark :)

So, on Bonanza, we pay 3.5% to Bonanza, 2.9% to PayPal then more on orders over $10 worth of shipping?
