How is usps doing with your packages?

Hello.

How is the USPS doing in moving your packages along through their system?

I’ve had two packages take the scenic route.

The one was priority mail and it was a few days late. That one was scary and I had some beads of sweat rolling across my forehead until it made it to where it was supposed to go.

And the other now is running a few days late (should have been there on Thursday) and it is priority. I do not have the beads rolling on this one but still. I hate to see it when a package is late, especially when I know it is something for Christmas.

USPS is being extremely slow. I mailed (also watched it being scanned) a package very early in the a.m. on the 5th and it will not be delivered until the 12th.

EmpressDepot says: December 09, 2018

I’m sorry to hear this. Something I did think was weird sort of like you said. I watched my packages get scanned and from there they all go to the same place before they exit my state. It’s weird how I drop them off on the same day, one makes it quickly to the next spot and the others trail behind

EmpressDepot says: December 09, 2018

…even though they were dropped off at the same time, same place.

zappys_closet says: December 09, 2018

Everything was great up to about 4 weeks ago, I have had to have several packages researched by the usps and sent a package out from Illinois headed to Indiana that was last scanned in Chicago and has not been seen since

FrogAndBearCreations says: December 09, 2018

mine was not scanned in at the receiving post office – so it looked like I never mailed it

EmpressDepot says: December 09, 2018

Those ones are a big ouch Frogandbear. I’ve had only a few do this and at the very end it gets scanned.

EmpressDepot says: December 09, 2018

Zappy, do u think there is still hope that the package to Indiana or has all hope been lost at this point.

EmpressDepot says: December 09, 2018

That the package to Indiana still makes it I mean.

zappys_closet says: December 10, 2018

I’m going to check with the usps today, they always seem to come up with the package. Never had to make a claim yet

zappys_closet says: December 10, 2018

It’s going on it’s second week and it’s generally a 3 day trip or less. Buyerhas not complainedyet so maybe the online tracking is bad. I never let the buyer know what’s up until they ask Incase they got it and then will claim not recieved

EmpressDepot says: December 10, 2018

True. I know where you are coming from there

Have you heard about THE TRUST COMMUNITY FOUNDATION PROGRAM, (TTCFP)? This is specifically place for those who need assistance paying for bills, buying a home, starting their own business, going to school, or even help raise their children with old and retired. Check your status if you eligible f

Don’t forget that the USPS lost a day due to President Bush’s death. Otherwise, about half of my packages arrive on time. The other half? 1-2 days late.

I forgot all about the Presidential day off. I wish I would have remembered that to say to my customer.

kattinsanity says: December 10, 2018

Just as the mail moves on Saturdays and Sundays, the mail also is moving on holidays. The post offices may be closed but the mail is still moving.

EmpressDepot says: December 10, 2018

Ok. I forgot about that, too lol

Of course we all know that Xmas is their busy time of season and for the most part, I have only had 2 issues over the 12 years I have been selling stuff. My first sale on Bonz NEVER Arrived (was NEVER scanned delivered) and was hoping that was not a bad omen here.

Another package was a working 1940’s era Tube Radio (that was irreplaceable) and even though I had Heavy, Fragile and Do Not Drop on all 6 sides, the buyer got it and sent me pics of the package before opening. It looked like it was taken 20+ feet in the air and dropped a lot MORE THAN Once as it was just emaciated. Opening it of course, the wood frame inside was broken and was unusable. Thank god I had insurance on it but PO only paid for the item, not the $27.00 it took to ship it far. I never understood that since THEY damaged it, they would not refund the postage but that is the Govt for you. From that point forward, I dont mark Fragile on anything I send now as I think they take it as a personal challenge to treat it rougher.

Other than that, I have had just a very FEW take the scenic route on me but all arrived, be it later than it should have.

Happy (and on time) sales to all.

It’s funny that you mention this about fragile. I was at the post office the other day watching boxes being scanned and thrown into the bin. They were not being thrown hard but were being thrown. I’ve also read where other sellers have said the same thing about fragile. When I saw the boxes being…

EmpressDepot says: December 09, 2018

thrown I found myself praying my packages make it in one piece. I would have expected the PO to refund you on shipping, too. That’s too bad.

zappys_closet says: December 09, 2018

I believe when you write fragile ona Package it triggers some individuals to do just the opposite

A2z4u2c says: December 09, 2018

Mark anything fragile really means “kick me. throw me, drop me off a high point”

rapidreader says: December 09, 2018

have they changed the filing rules? The few times I have had to file a claim I recieved the postage fee as well. But that was 8 to 10 years ago.

Calhan_Mercantile says: December 09, 2018

Fragile’, Must be Italian for drop and crush me

Atomicdiner says: December 10, 2018

PO would not cough up the $27 postage, just the item was damaged as it was delivered. Believe me, they would not accept a insured package if I handed it over to them in the condition it was delivered in for sure.

This past week I have mailed about a dozen packages all of them first class and they gave gotten to their destination in 3-4 days. That’s from Idaho to the east coast. Yet I mailed a priority mail package to my brother in California and it took 6 days to get there.

It seems as though priority is not doing so good. My problems were with priority.

Atomicdiner says: December 10, 2018

I hear you Bumble. I can mail priority item to a person 35 miles away and it will take sometimes 3 or 4 days as it starts by going to Ohare airport, then to Indy and then back up to Chgo where it eventually gets delivered. I could drive it to them faster.

EmpressDepot says: December 10, 2018

We need to start charging the USPS when they make illegal u turns

I haven’t had any problems at all. I had a few that were priority and were a day late, but priority is not promised at the exact 3 to 4 day period only next day is. But i’m happy overall this year to me they seem to be doing a great job.

Hi sparkles. Curious to ask, do u start counting the number of days in the mail as the day u drop the package off or do u start counting the day after? I’ve always started counting the day after. Thanks

Haven’t had a problem….yet. Knock on wood…..

As of earlier this week, the USPS is running about a day behind now on about 95% of my packages…still, not too bad.

I live in a very small town but during the X-Mas season our mail gets picked up at noon & again at 5:00. I mailed 8 packages a few days ago at 8:30 AM and they never left my post office until 5:00. I don’t know why they never went out on the noon pick up. 1st class is also faster than priority.
