Annual, This is a tall, bright white Bachelor Button. The Bachelor Button prefers full sun and well-drained soil. It is a resilient annual flower and can be fall planted in zones 7-10. This flower will have better success if started outdoors, although it can typically survive if started indoors. The Bachelor Button is one of the easiest flowers to start from seed and makes an excellent cut flower. Planting Bachelor's Button While starting seeds of the Bachelor's Button is not difficult, the right conditions will improve the chances of getting this plant to grow. Sow Bachelor's Buttons seeds directly in the ground in the spring when the threat of frost has passed. Keep the ground moist but not wet for the first couple of weeks. When the seedlings stand about 3 inches tall, thin them out to at least 8 inches apart. Pick a sunny, well-drained spot for planting for the best performance. We are a small family run seed processor that has a long tradition of farming for many generations. I fondly remember my Grandfather telling stories about his Grandfather tilling the earth and the events that impacted his success. The stories bring to life the courage and creativity required to survive capricious weather and market prices. Our history makes it clear that the rewards of farming, including the birthing of the calves, the bounty of a good harvest, and the family's feeling of being rooted in the soil. I still remember with pride, getting to sit on my Grandfathers lap while driving the tractor for the first time during corn harvest.
In addition to commercial crops, most family farms also have large gardens to grow much of the food consumed on a farm. Growing your own vegetables, flowers, spices and herbs, canning and freezing were a normal part of life on the farm. We always saved seed from each plant for starting the cycle for the next year.
