The GE lid lock and harness is an OEM replacement part responsible for securing the washer's lid during operation. It is located near the top of the washing machine, just below the lid or door assembly, under the top panel. The primary function of the lid lock and harness is to prevent the opening the washer's lid while it is in use. When the washer is running, the lid lock engages and securely latches the lid in place, preventing accidental access to the spinning drum and potentially hazardous situations. Additionally, the harness is responsible for transmitting the necessary signals to the washer's control board, indicating the status of the lid lock, allowing the washer to start.
