For your consideration, here’s the June 21, 1993 Sports Illustrated edition the features Michael Jodan and Charles Barkley on the cover. This is among the most well known SI cover with two of the best players in the NBA going “Head to Head” in the triple overtime Game 3 of the NBA Finals as the Phoenix Suns tried to turn the series around after losing games 1 and 2.

In addition to some amazing picture of the competition, this one has Charles Barkley’s autograph on Page 20 as shown in the pictures. This comes from our personal collection and after 30 years we figured it’s about time to pass this along to another basketball fan.

The background is, I was on a Southwest flight from Phoenix to LA and wound up in the row directly behind Barkley. I was alone in my row and he was directly in front of me, also alone in his row. By the way, he’s a pretty big guy and took up two seats. He’d given his autograph to a young ( maybe 10 years old or so ) boy and once he did that, pretty much everyone saw him and wanted his autograph.

I’d bought the copy of SI at a newsstand and had no idea he was on the same flight. It just worked out that way. I asked him to autograph it and he did but I don’t think he was very happy about it since they’d lost the title to the Bulls. I passed along to him a few more requests for autographs and he gave them but the told me to stop asking him. He was not a happy camper. I couldn’t figure out why he was on a commercial Southwest flight in coach seating. He could have been on any airline, in first class, and not have to deal with the bother of having to sign autographs, so it was just luck that I was on that flight with him.

This has been kept in a protective cover since I’ve had it. It has some slight yellowing of the pages - after all it’s 30 years old - but besides of a small crease in the lower right corner of the cover and some light creasing near the spine from opening the cover, all shown in the pictures, it’s in very good condition.

We’re doing an sale on this simply because there’s no way I can think of to determine its value. It’s one of a kind. There is a Reserve on it but it’s not high so this will go to the highest bidder. And it’s free shipping to anywhere in the United States. , fully insured for whatever it’s bought for. International shipping will depend on final destination. If you want more pictures or have any questions let me know. Thanks for looking and good luck.
