this is beautiful Vintage ring bezel set big solid Australian Semi Black (Darker body tone) opal! the opal thick and well rounded and smoothly polished, almost domed, a little raised cabochon - usually darker opals are thin slices/cuts and of irregular shapes, but this one is thick and very well rounded! there is no cracks, no crazing, no wear to the opal! it produces many different fiery Neon colors as you rotate it under the light! please see last photo against light - it is semi-translucent with darker areas (visible only on the back, under setting). it shows the best and stronger colors under indoor bright light or the Sun. the stone is bezel set - bezel Setting is always the best to protect the gem from all of the sides! the bezel is unique and has small open ares on the sides to show how thick the opal is! in excellent condition with only very minimal wear to the gold! the opal has lots of neon fire of different colors, but camera makes it dull and hard to capture, especially on the hand from a distance. the close up photos show it the most. When look in reality, there are even more multiple neon flashes all over! the ring well made! the band is thick! crafted in solid 14k white gold (hallmark 14k and tested). It is vintage item - Arts and Crafts period or post A&C. the ring “sits low” on the finger - typical for the period, as a glove and does not “stick out”, so does not get tangled, caught, or snagged on your clothing, sweaters; it is very comfortable to wear! So because it is close to the skin and it is not raised on your finger it is great for everyday wear and as a birthstone ring too!
