7 Original Pieces in Jazz Style for the Early Intermediate to Intermediate Pianist
CATHERINE ROLLIN
FOREWORD
JA77 music originated and evolved primarily in the United States. The seven pieces in Spotlight on Jazz Style reflect the various characteristics of jazz piano, including its highly rhythmic and colorful nature. From the stride bass in "Fabulous Fingers" to the syncopations in "A Little Latin Beat," each solo features different jazz elements. Students and teachers will find that 077 is a type of music that is fun to play. In addition to having fun, however, I hope that students will learn from hearing and playing the complex rhythms and extended harmonies that contribute to the ja77 style.
